Position:  Marketing & Communications Intern, Michigan Health Council

Reports to:  Michigan Health Council Talent Acquisition & Training Manager

Payment:  Unpaid

Length:  Flexible with the schedule. 10-20 hours a week for 12+ weeks

Company Overview:

The Michigan Health Council is a growing and dynamic 501c3 non-profit that focuses on making great products and delivering services that support Michigan’s health care employers, educators, and professionals (present and future). We are currently seeking an energetic, conscientious and detail oriented individual who enjoys making a difference, being part of a team and takes pride in their future career path to serve as our Marketing & Communications Intern. This position reports to the Michigan Health Council Talent Acquisition and Training Manager.

Responsibilities and Duties (in collaboration with our MHC Staff):

  • Assist with translating MHC’s mission, goals and strategies into specific and meaningful marketing efforts.
  • Support the MHC team in daily administrative tasks that correlate to marketing, public relations, and communications.
  • Collaborate with MHC Communications Specialist in the development and monitoring of communications including newsletters, articles, web content, email blasts, social media messaging, collateral marketing materials, etc.
  • Analyze current marketing efforts and advertising placements and pricing to maximize outreach efforts and audience captivity.
  • All other administrative and managerial responsibilities presented to this position as deemed necessary by the Michigan Health Council Talent Acquisition and Training Manager

Qualifications:

  • Big picture, creative thinker with close attention to detail
  • Strong verbal, writing, technology and creative skills
  • Organized; expert at juggling many tasks and projects
  • Self-starter and independent worker
  • Experience working in a fast-paced office environment
  • Reliable transportation to and from the Michigan Health Council building (2121 University Park Drive, Okemos, MI 48864)

Skills Preferred:

  • Experience with Adobe Create Cloud preferred, but not required
  • Intro to public relations course completed
  • Experience with social media platforms, email marketing software, and online survey tools

Education and Licensure:

Preferably, the applicant should passionate about and in pursuit of higher education & training in any of the following: communications, marketing, public relations, business administration or another related field.
