MHC Awarded Grant to Develop E2P Initiative
Collaborative HRSA award will develop interprofessional education in Michigan
OKEMOS – The Michigan Health Council announced, along with partners at the Michigan Department of Community Health (DCH), Michigan Area Health Education Center (MI-AHEC), and Grand Valley and Wayne State Universities, the receipt of a grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration to expand interprofessional clinical education for health professions students in Michigan.
“We are extremely pleased to be part of the team working on this grant to expand interprofessional education in Michigan,” said Anne Rosewarne, President and CEO of the Michigan Health Council. “This project is a fantastic opportunity to be on the forefront of research into new models of health care delivery.”
In partnership with DCH, the Michigan Health Council will develop a program called “Education 2 Practice,” aimed at educating health care providers and students to learn and treat patients in a team-based manner with other professionals, to expand access and improve quality of care for patients with complex, chronic diseases in Michigan.
“We are very proud of our work on interprofessional education and the Education 2 Practice program because we believe team-based needs to be part of the solution to address health care provider shortages in Michigan,” Rosewarne said. “Expanding access to care and improving patient health outcomes is an important goal of the Education 2 Practice program.”
In awarding the grant, HRSA recognized the partnership across government, academic, and non-profit organizations to advance both academic research and fieldwork in clinical settings.
“We are grateful for being recognized for our collaborative approach – combining two academic research institutions, state government, and a non-profit – to find solutions that both increase access and quality of care through bridging education to practice,” noted Rosewarne.
The Michigan Health Council is an Okemos, Michigan-based 501(c)3 non-profit organization committed to connect health care professionals with jobs, promote health care education, and fix health care workforce issues in Michigan. Learn more about the Michigan Health Council at www.mhc.org.
